About

I grew up in the country and moved to the city at 17. I studied Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering at UNSW Sydney, graduating in 2019 with first class honours.

In 2016, I studied at UC Santa Barbara and lived in a quirky, energetic co-op of 22 people, some in tents, who taught me there are many different ways to live happily.

In 2017, I spent time on small farms in Uganda and returned the following year to co-launch Kua, a social enterprise that does climate-positive coffee. Five friends and I ran Kua from a sharehouse with a tonne of coffee in the shed. We started a band and played at our own house parties.

In 2018, I backpacked around India for six weeks.

In 2019, after handing in my thesis, I cycled around Taiwan on a pushbike. In a Teipei bookshop I found a giant book of data visualisation. I was hooked.

In 2020, I started pursuing dataviz full-time and cut my teeth at the Lowy Institute.

In 2023, my partner and I travelled Japan for two months, then moved to Melbourne.

In 2024, I worked as a designer at the ABC's Digital Story Innovations team.

In 2026, Stephen Hutchings and I opened Outliers Studio.

I have spent most of my career freelancing, working with clients on a project basis to find new ways to showcase their work.

I have also worked in-house as a designer-developer at two of Australia's leading news and research organisations: the Lowy Institute, and the ABC, where I'd design and build interactives, maps, and infographics for policy research and news stories.

In my spare time I'm usually pursuing a side quest, scribbling, playing sport, playing music, or tinkering in the shed.
